Concrete work we do in Centerville
Centerville is small, about 8,000 people in 31028, but the housing stock is mixed and the concrete problems follow the age of the house.
- Older homes off Houston Lake Road and Gunn Road. Driveways from the 1970s and 1980s that are under 4 inches thick with no steel. Most have heaved at the garage or sunk at the street. These are tear-out and replace jobs, usually $5,000 to $8,500 plus removal.
- Eagle Springs and the gated sections. Newer builds with sound driveways and no patio, or a builder-grade 10 by 10 pad that is too small. Patio extensions are the common call, and HOA approval is needed before we pour. We provide the drawing for the architectural review.
- Everywhere. Leveling sunken walks and garage aprons, slabs for sheds and generators, and front walks that have tilted toward the house.
Centerville soil and drainage
Houston County sits where the Fall Line sandhills meet the red clay of the upper Coastal Plain. The clay swells when wet and shrinks when dry, and that movement, not traffic, is what cracks most slabs here. Centerville sits on the higher ground between Warner Robins and Byron, and lots toward the Peach County line are sandier than those nearer Houston Lake. Sandy lots drain well and need less base work. Clay lots need the full 4 inches of compacted stone and attention to where runoff goes, because several streets off Thomson Street drain across driveways rather than along them.
Our standard residential base is 4 inches of compacted crusher run over proofrolled subgrade, with soft spots dug out and replaced. Driveways get 4,000 psi concrete at 4 inches, 5 inches where trucks or RVs park. We use #3 rebar on 24-inch centers for driveways and parking pads, 6x6 wire mesh for patios and walks, and saw-cut control joints at 8 to 10 feet so cracking happens where we planned it.
Permits in Centerville
Centerville is its own city and issues its own permits inside city limits. Addresses with a Centerville mailing address but outside the city line fall under Houston County Building Inspection, 200 Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31088, (478) 542-2018. A same-footprint driveway replacement does not normally need a permit in either. Widening the driveway at the street, or adding a second curb cut, needs an encroachment permit and we file it. Inside Eagle Springs, the HOA's architectural committee also has to sign off on patios and driveway extensions, and that takes two to four weeks, so start there.

How quoting works
Send the form with the address. The contractor comes out, measures, check the grade and look at where the water goes. The written quote arrives within two business days and lists thickness, strength, base, steel, joints, removal and finish as separate lines. Pour dates are usually one to three weeks out. You pay no more than a third up front and the balance after you have walked the finished slab.
Questions we get asked
Do you charge extra to come to Centerville?
No. Centerville is inside our core area and pricing is identical to Warner Robins.
Does Eagle Springs allow stamped concrete?
In our experience the architectural committee approves stamped and colored patios when the color is in the earth-tone range and the drawing shows setbacks from the property line. We supply the drawing and the color sample with your application.
Can you match the color of my existing driveway when you add an extension?
New concrete is always lighter than concrete that has weathered for ten years. We can get close with the same aggregate and finish, and the difference fades over 12 to 18 months. We will not promise an invisible seam because there is not one.
How long does a patio take in Centerville?
One day to form and pour a broom-finish patio, two days for stamped. Add the HOA review time in Eagle Springs before that.
Do you work in Byron and Warner Robins too?
Yes. Byron is covered from the same crew, and Warner Robins is home base.
Get a written quote
Tell us what you need and where. Sandhill Concrete matches your project with a licensed Houston County concrete contractor, who measures on site, writes the quote and does the work. You hear back within one business day by text or email with a site-visit window, and the written quote states thickness, reinforcement, base and removal so you can compare it line by line.
