Price per square foot, by type
| Type | Per sq ft, installed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Plain broom finish, 4 inch | $6 to $10 | The standard. Most slip-resistant finish. |
| Plain, 5 inch | $7 to $11.50 | For RVs, boats, work trucks. |
| Exposed aggregate | $10 to $15 | Pea gravel or river rock surface. |
| Integral color, broom finish | $8 to $13 | Color mixed in at the plant. |
| Stamped and colored | $12 to $20 | Two-day finish, needs sealing every 3 years. |
| Removal and haul-off of old concrete | $2 to $4 | Higher end for 6-inch or mesh-reinforced slabs. |
| Asphalt, for comparison | $3 to $5 | Lasts half as long, needs sealing. |
Those ranges are wide because the base work varies more than the concrete does. On a sandy lot north of Watson Boulevard the crew can be forming by mid-morning. On red clay south of Russell Parkway, half of day one goes into digging out soft spots and compacting stone.

What is inside the price
Roughly, on a plain 800 square foot driveway at $6,400:
- Concrete, about 30 percent. Ten cubic yards of 4,000 psi mix, delivered from the plants on Foy Evans Drive or Plantation Road, runs $1,700 to $2,000 in 2026 including fuel and short-load fees.
- Base stone and steel, about 10 percent. Twelve tons of crusher run plus #3 rebar and chairs.
- Labor, about 45 percent. A four-person crew for two and a half days: grade, form, steel, pour, finish, saw joints, strip forms.
- Equipment, disposal and overhead, about 15 percent. Skid steer, plate compactor, saw, dumpster, insurance, license.
A bid well under $6 per square foot in Houston County is leaving one of those out. The usual candidates are the stone base, the rebar, or the insurance.
What makes the price go up
- Slope toward the house. Needs a swale, a trench drain or a step-down. $400 to $1,500.
- No truck access. Pump truck, $600 to $900, or wheelbarrowing at a labor premium.
- Tree roots. Roots under the old slab from water oaks and pines have to be cut and the void filled with stone.
- Thick old concrete. Some 1960s driveways near Robins Air Force Base are 6 inches with mesh. Removal doubles.
- Utility conflicts. A water meter or cleanout in the driveway line needs a box set to grade. Georgia 811 marks lines free, and we call before every dig.
- Season. April, May and September book up. January and February quotes are often 5 to 8 percent lower because crews want the work.
Permits and licensing
Houston County Building Inspection handles unincorporated county addresses. The City of Warner Robins, Centerville and Perry issue their own permits inside city limits. Replacing a driveway in the same footprint is usually exempt. A new or widened curb cut on a public road needs an encroachment permit. For county addresses, Houston County Building Inspection, 200 Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31088, (478) 542-2018. Inside the City of Warner Robins, Centerville or Perry, the city handles it. An encroachment permit, when needed, costs under $100 and takes about a week.
Georgia requires a licensed residential contractor for any job over $2,500, which is every driveway. Unlicensed work cannot be permitted, and if something goes wrong you have no recourse through the state board. Ask for the license number and check it on the Secretary of State's site before signing.
How to read a driveway quote
A quote worth comparing states all of these. If one is missing, ask.
- Measured square footage, not an estimate.
- Slab thickness in inches and concrete strength in psi.
- Base material and depth after compaction.
- Reinforcement: rebar size and spacing, or wire mesh gauge.
- Control joint spacing and whether they are sawn or tooled.
- Whether removal and haul-off of old concrete is included.
- Finish type and any sealer.
- Apron detail and who pulls the permit.
- Deposit amount and when the balance is due.
- Warranty terms, in writing, and whether they transfer to the next owner.
The last point matters more here than in most towns. Robins Air Force Base is the county's largest employer. Many homeowners are on a three-year assignment, so we quote with resale in mind and write warranties that transfer to the next owner.
Repair or leveling instead
If the driveway is structurally sound and has sunk at one end, foam leveling at $600 to $2,500 restores the grade in a morning and costs a fraction of replacement. Surface spalling on an otherwise solid slab can take a resurfacing overlay at $4 to $8 per square foot. We will tell you which applies when we see it. About one call in four that starts as a replacement quote ends up as a repair.
Questions we get asked
Is a concrete driveway worth the cost over asphalt in Warner Robins?
Over 30 years, yes. Asphalt costs $3 to $5 per square foot but softens in 95 F summers, needs sealing every two to three years, and is usually replaced by year 20. Concrete at $6 to $10 lasts 30 to 40 years with no sealing. The break-even is around year 12.
How much does it cost to widen a driveway by 4 feet?
A 4 by 40 foot strip is 160 square feet. At $8 to $12 per square foot for a small pour, that is $1,300 to $1,900, plus an encroachment permit if the strip reaches the street.
Why is my quote higher than the per-square-foot price suggests?
Small jobs cost more per foot. Under 300 square feet the crew, truck and equipment cost the same as for 600, so the rate rises. Our minimum job is $1,200.
Do prices go down in winter?
Slightly. January and February quotes often come in 5 to 8 percent under spring prices because crews have gaps. Concrete cures slower in cool weather but it cures fine.
Can I finance a driveway?
We do not finance directly. Most customers who finance use a home improvement loan from their credit union. Robins Financial and other local lenders offer unsecured loans for this size of project.
