About Sandhill Concrete

Sandhill Concrete is a Warner Robins-based residential concrete service. You send us the project, we match it with a licensed Houston County concrete contractor, and that contractor measures the site, writes the quote, pours the job and walks it with you at the end. We stay on the job as your point of contact and hold the contractor to the standards on this site. We cover driveways, patios, slabs, sidewalks, repair and leveling in Warner Robins, Centerville, Perry, Bonaire, Kathleen and Byron.

What we pour

Residential flatwork only. Driveways and parking pads, patios and pool decks, slabs for sheds, garages and workshops, sidewalks and walkways, stamped and decorative finishes, and the repair, leveling and removal that go with them.

How quoting works

Send the form and you hear back within one business day by text or email with a site-visit window, usually within two business days. The contractor measures the job and checks where the water goes. Within two business days of the visit you get a written quote listing slab thickness, concrete strength in psi, base depth, steel, joint layout, removal of old concrete, and the finish, so you can compare it against another bid line by line.

The deposit is never more than a third of the job. The balance is due after you have walked the finished pour with the crew lead.

Why we build the way we do on Houston County clay

Warner Robins sits where the Fall Line sandhills meet the red clay of the upper Coastal Plain. The clay swells when wet and shrinks when dry, and a slab poured on top of it moves with it. That movement, not traffic, is what cracks most slabs here.

So the base gets the time. The crew proofrolls the subgrade, digs out soft spots and replaces them with stone, then compacts 4 inches of crusher run. Driveways get 4,000 psi concrete at 4 inches, or 5 inches where a truck, boat or RV will sit, with #3 rebar on 24-inch centers. Patios and walks get 6x6 wire mesh. Control joints are saw-cut every 8 to 10 feet so shrinkage cracks land inside a joint.

In summer the pour starts early, the surface is misted and a white curing compound holds moisture in. Walk on it the next day, park on it after 7 days, full design strength at 28 days.

The warranty, in plain terms

Two years on cracking outside the control joints and on settlement greater than half an inch. If either shows up, we fix it at no charge. The warranty transfers to the next owner of the house. Robins Air Force Base is the county's largest employer and many of our customers are on a three-year assignment, so a warranty that ends when the house sells is worth little to them. Ours goes with the house, in writing on the quote.

What we will not do

  • Pour on a frozen or saturated base.
  • Skip the stone base to hit a price. When a bid comes in cheaper, that is usually where the money went.
  • Pour ahead of rain. If the forecast turns, the date moves.
  • Take more than a third of the job up front.

Service area and licensing

Warner Robins is home. We work across Houston County in Centerville, Perry, Bonaire and Kathleen, plus Byron in Peach County. Work over $2,500 is performed by a Georgia-licensed residential contractor. License number on every written quote.

Questions we get asked

Are you licensed and insured?

The crews that perform our work hold a Georgia residential contractor license and carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage. The license number is on every written quote, and a certificate of insurance is available on request.

Who actually does the work?

A licensed local contractor does the site visit, the quote, the excavation, forming, pouring and finishing. Sandhill Concrete takes the request, makes the match, and stays your point of contact if anything needs chasing.

Do you do commercial work?

No. Residential driveways, patios, slabs, walks and repair only. A workshop slab for a home business is fine. Parking lots, loading docks and foundations are not.

How do I check a Georgia contractor license?

Use the Georgia Secretary of State's free online license lookup. Enter the name or license number from the quote to see the license type, status and expiration date. A contractor who will not give you a number to check has answered the question.
